Our holiday cottages Our holiday cottages are in the middle of the Laurentides. The distance to the international airport Montreal-Mirabel is just an hour by car. 
It takes about one and a half hour to get the capital Ottawa. You can reach the natural beaches of the surrounding lakes in a few minutes. Near the house there are small feed shops. You'll find the big shopping-centres in Lachute, that's about 35 km from your place, or in the ski- and holiday resort St. Jovite (35 km). You'll be surprised how reasonable the prices are in Canada. 
In 30 min. by car you reach the Rouge River where you sometimes can do organised canoeing or rafting tours. About 35 km to the north you'll reach the skiing and canoeing paradise of the natural parc Mont Tremblant. Here you can enjoy good, but not crowded pistes in the winter month (sometimes even with floodlight) and in the summer and autumn month you can go canoeing on the quite lakes or go rafting on the River du Diable. There are 380 lakes in the natural park. You can barrow everything from fishing-tackle to canoes at reasonable prices. 
Except the small, popular Canadian Restaurants, they offer wonderful steaks and other native dishes. You can visit the Hotel-Restaurant Lac Carling (five stars) near Pine Hill or an exclusive restaurant (Val Caroll) north of Harrington. Wherever you go you'll always have quite lakes whose water is right temperated in summer. You only have to share them with otters and beavers. Donut be surprised to meet a moose or a black bear family on the side streets. In the evening you'll be busy feeding the racoons with your toasts. 
If you want to breath the air of a large town the visit of the city of Montreal will be nice experience after times of silence and isolation. Here you find excellent opportunities to go shopping and there is a world-wide-known culture programme all the year round. After your Montreal outing you'll be back in the Laurentides-wilderness in about one hour. You'll always be surprised about the Canadian hospitality. Although Quebec is a Frenchspeaking province you wont have any difficulty of communication with some knowledge of English. 
The streets You can drive on the streets and on the side streets without problems. Normally they are asphalt roads and only the small side streets are roads with gravel surface. In Canada you should never forget to think in " different distances". So we recommend to rent a car or - if you stay longer - to buy one and sell it later. (Taxes and assurances are cheaper than in Germany. 
Renting houses We rent separate, completely furnished houses from Can-$ 600,00 a week (included energy) 70 km north of Montreal in the oldest mountain range of the world (Laurentides). You must at least rent for 2 weeks. You can use these houses with 4 persons as they normally have 2 bathrooms and 2 double sleeping rooms.
